Yercaud Lake

At a distance of 1.5 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, Big Lake or Yercaud Lake is a natural lake situated in the town of Yercaud in Tamilnadu state. Popularly known as Emerald Lake, this lake is the only natural lake among all the hill station lakes in South India and also one of the top places to visit in Yercaud. Flanked by lofty hills and natural shoals, the Emerald Lake is a wonderful site and looks stunning with a beautiful garden along its banks. There is a floating fountain in the lake which increases the appeal of the garden. Tourists can also enjoy boating facility at the lake in rowing or self-peddling boats. Tamil Nadu Tourism Department manages the boat house. Visitors have to pay caution deposit for boats. The 20 minutes boat ride in the cool waters is a memorable experience. The Deer Park and Leisure Park located on the banks of the Big Lake also attract a number of tourists .....

Deer Park

Deer Park is situated adjacent to Boat House. The lake surrounding the park gives a feel of an island. It is connected by an over bridge to enter. Deer park is maintained by Yercaud Forest Range of Tamilnadu Forest Department.It is an attraction especially for children as there are swings and slides for them to enjoy. You can also spot Peacocks, Love birds, Pigeons, Rabbits, Ducks, Spotted deers, etc. The Yercaud Aquarium Exhibition is situated opposite to Deer park. The visitors can see some under water ornamental fishes here. Kiddies will enjoy this aquarium exhibition.

Anna Park

At a distance of 1 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, Anna Park is located adjacent to the Big Lake in Yercaud. Maintained by the Horticulture department, Anna Park is one of the major Yercaud tourist places. Anna Park is a well preserved garden and is a combination of four small parks known as Lake Park, Deer Park, Gandhi Park and Children's Park. The park houses a wide collection of natural plants and trees around Shevaroy hills. Inside the Anna Park, there is also one Japanese park, in which plants are grown in Japanese style. The park also has a wonderful Horticulture Farm with a Rose Garden. The Rose Garden has various varieties of roses that include button rose to very big rose. One part of the park is seen decorated with red grass which looks like a spectacular red colored carpet. The fountain in the park center splashes nicely enabling visitors to enjoy the thrill of sprinkling water. The park is specially designed with slides .....

Botanical Garden

At a distance of 2.5 km from Yercaud Bus Stand and 3 km from Yercaud Lake, the Botanical Garden is situated on Lady's Seat road in Yercaud. Maintained by southern circle of Botanical Survey of India, Botanical Garden is one of the top attractions in Yercaud. Housing various exotic species of flowers and plants, the Botanical Garden is a major places to visit in Yercaud. The Botanical Garden is divided in to different sections like foliage garden, topiary garden, bonsai garden, butterfly garden, herbal garden, rock garden, water garden and sensory garden. It is a must visit place for all nature lovers as one can come across the most beautiful, colorful and rare variety of plants. The garden houses the Orchidarium and the green house. Spread across 18.4 hectares, the National Orchidarium is established in the year 1963. There are 3000 trees and 1800 shrubs grown in Orchidarium. .....

Kiliyur Falls

At a distance of 4 km from Yercaud Bus Stand and 3 km from Yercaud Lake, Kiliyur Falls is a nice waterfall in the Servaroyan hill range of Eastern Ghats in Tamil Nadu, India. This is one of the beautiful waterfalls in Salem district and also one of the top Yercaud tourist places. Kiliyur Falls is formed by the overflowing waters of Yercaud Lake. The waterfalls drop into the Kiliyur Valley from a height of 300 feet (91 m). The view of the falls is breathtaking, especially in monsoon season. This is a seasonal falls and the best time to visit this place is immediately after the monsoons. It is an ideal and less expensive place to spend a weekend away from the busy life. The 2 km trek to the falls is bit tough and may not be suitable for kids and elderly tourists. There are about 200 steep steps on the path towards the falls. It takes about 1 hour trek from the nearest road point .....

Pagoda Point

At a distance of 4.5 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, Pagoda Point is a viewpoint located on the eastern part of Yercaud Hills. Also known as Pyramid Point, the place has got its name due to the presence of four piles of stones that have been arranged in the shape of a pyramid which resembles the temple towers and is said to be built by the local tribes. Away from the bustling life of Yercaud, the Pagoda Point is the perfect getaway to embrace the mind with solace and tranquility. There is a Sri Rama Temple situated near the Pagodas which is an important pilgrimage site for local people and tribes. Apart from attracting the devotees, Pagoda Point is also known for the heavenly beauty and wonderful surroundings, where one can relax and enjoy the beauty of the nature. Lady's Seat

At a distance of 2 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, Lady's Seat is a cluster of rocks in the form of a seat on the South West of Shevaroy hills in Yercaud town of Tamil Nadu state. The Lady's Seat is located very close to Pagoda Point and is one of the prime attractions of Yercaud. The Lady' Seat has derived its name from a set of rocks made naturally. The natives believe that a white English lady used to spend the evenings watching the panoramic view from this rock. The viewpoint offers panoramic views of Salem town and Ghat Road. It is a nice place to watch the sunset. There is a watch tower equipped with telescope so as to enjoy the beautiful view of Mettur Dam and Salem town. This viewing tower is open for visitors only during the day time. On the right of Lady's Seat are Sterling Resorts, Gents Seat and Children's Seat. There is a mini park and it is a breath taking spot for a picnic. The view from Lady's Seat is more spectacular at night with thousands of light twinkling .....

Gent's Seat

TIt is a nice view point and located at a distance of 1 km from ladies seat. his is a cluster of Rocks on the South West of the Yercaud hills overlooking the Ghat road and the town of Salem to the South. There is a natural rock formation in the form of a seat where reportedly a white English Lady of yester years spent her evenings viewing the magnificent panorama before one’s eyes. There is a sheer drop of about 200 feet at this point into a private estate in the valley below. There is a manmade viewing tower with Telescopes. One can see the magnesite deposits on the plains and on clear days a view of Mettur Dam. One should not miss the night view of the Salem town with millions of twinkling lights.

Tipperary View Point

At a distance of 2 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, Tipperary Viewpoint is the southernmost viewpoint in Yercaud and can be reached by driving along Tipperary Road. It is one of the top Yercaud tourist places and the journey to the viewpoint also offers magnificent views. This spectacular southern spot is the most stunning point to view the elegance of the woodlands, greeneries and steep rocky peaks of the Yercaud hills. This is a popular tourist spot to experience the aerial beauty and scenic charm of the location. From this viewpoint one can see the Elephant Tooth Rocks. These rocks are pure white in color and are believed to have formed when a meteorite fell on earth. This pure white rock is really an amazing structure among the black granite rocks of this hilly region. Karadiyur View Point

At a distance of 12 km from Yercaud and 41 km from Salem, Karadiyur View point is a natural view point situated near Karadiyur village. Karadiyoor was so named because of the large number of sloth bears found in this region earlier. This is a fantastic viewpoint with wonderful views of the valleys in Yercaud region. The mesmerizing view from the Karadiyur viewpoint is one of the prime attractions in Yercaud. The view of sunrise as well as sunset from this location is a unique attraction. There is a newly built watch tower. Visitors can camp at this spot overnight and make an attempt for rock climbing. Karadiyur view point is accessible by one km trek from the nearest road point. The best time to visit the Karadiyur view point would be from November to March. Though it can be visited during any time of the day, Sunset time offers the best view.

Manjakuttai View Point

Manjakuttai View Point is located at a distance of 7 kms from Yercaud Town. It has amazing views of surrounding valleys and mountains. Best time to go here is early morning to see the beauty of sun rise.This view point is less known to people as it is still under development. But it is a nice place to go. Looks like the hills end here. You can witness a great view in winter with fog hitting you on the face. The access road could be very steep. There are no shops around (atleast during off season). There are local villagers around. It is a good place to trek or drive to if you want to make a quick getaway for a couple of hours.

Montfort School

At a distance of 500 m from Yercaud Bus Stand, the Montfort is a secondary school for boys and girls run by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel in the town of Yercaud, near Salem in Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the well-established residential schools located within the destination and also one of the best places to visit in Yercaud. Montfort School was established in 1917 by Brother Denis. Initially, it was a European school founded during the First World War. The school was named after the founder of the Order of St. Gabriel, St. Louis Marie Grignoin de Montfort. This Anglo - Indian secondary school is run by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel and the motto of the school is Virtue and Labour.' The school aims at teaching its students the value of moral education. Higher secondary classes were commenced in 1975 after 'Mayfield' was purchased by the school and some new buildings .....

Annamalaiyar Temple View Point

At a distance of 7 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, Annamalaiyar Temple Viewpoint is situated in the village of Thalai Cholai in Salem district of Tamilnadu. This is one of the best vantage points in Yercaud hills and also one of the top places of sightseeing in Yercaud. Annamalaiyar Temple is a beautiful Shiva Temple with a single tower sculpted with colorful idols. The temple is located at a height of 1400 m above the sea level and offers a panoramic view of the hills along with the Servaroyan temple, coffee plantations, spice gardens and orange groves. The temple is also a simple yet beautiful structure with one small and moderate towers decorated with idols and painted in various colors. There is also one pyramid like lamp tower which is painted with bright red color. It is spectacular to see the lighted lamp tower during the evenings of full moon days. Servaroyan Temple / Shevaroy Temple

At a distance of 7 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, Shevaroyan Temple is a hill temple situated atop Shevaroyan hill in Yercaud town of Tamil Nadu. Situated at an altitude of 5326 feet, this is the highest point in Yercaud Hills. The Shevaroyan temple is a cave temple. The main deity of Shevaroy temple is Lord Shevaroyan, worshiped by tribal people of the region. This temple can be best described as narrow and dark caves which are adorned by idols of Goddess Kaveri and Lord Shevaroyan. The male deity is believed to be the god of Servaroyan hills while the female deity is considered as the goddess of River Cauvery. It is a common belief among people residing in the area that Goddess Kaveri is believed to be the guardian deity of the 67 villages located around Yercaud. This cave temple is believed to be 2000 years old as per the locals. The cave extends beyond the temple and the locals say it extends all the way to the Kaveri River .....

The Grange

At a distance of 2 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, the Grange is an ancient castle situated in Yercaud, Tamil Nadu. This is one of the oldest buildings in Yercaud and also one of the must visit Yercaud tourist places. The Grange was built in the year 1820 CE by a British collector M.D. Cockburn who is well known as the father of Yercaud. This mansion is one of the oldest architectural monuments in Yercaud. It was also the first commercial plantation area for coffee, oranges and apples. It is said that the coffee plant was brought from Africa to Yercaud. The other coffee plantations in Tamil Nadu are said to have originated from this humble beginning. Jack Fruit, Berry, Orange, Guava and spices like Pepper, Cardamom etc. are the other crops cultivated in the Estate. Sandalwood, Teak and Silver Oak are also seen abundantly growing in this region. Sri Raja Rajeswari Temple

At a distance of 4 km from Yercaud Bus Stand and 3 km from Shevaroy Temple, Sri Raja Rajeswari Temple is located in a scenic valley on the way to Shevaroy Temple in Yercaud. This is one of the popular temples in Yercaud and also one of the best pilgrimage places to visit in Yercaud. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Raja Rajeswari, a form of Goddess Shakti. This temple was established in the year 1983, by Tirukovilur Thapovanam Srila Sri Gnananada Giri Swami Parampara, follower of Swami Poornanda Giri. The temple is currently managed by V Sri, son of the founder. The massive Raja Rajeswari idol is to be found in a sitting posture, and it is 4.5 feet tall. The deity of this temple is said to be the goddess of all gods in the Hindu Pantheon. The idol of the main goddess is encircled by the idols of other Hindu Gods such as Rudra, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Brahma and Saraswathi. It is believed .....
